Cake #3 - for her 4th birthday

The third cake - WAY more ambitious, WAY more of a stretch. And WAY more of an investment in tools and materials. This is the true test of your mettle as an artist - just how much can you spend on equipment!! It was a great process and one that I really enjoyed, from start to finish. Okay, well maybe not the part where I threw out TWO WHOLE CAKES that I ruined, but all of the rest!

The First "Baby Steps"

I had to start somewhere, and this is where - with my grandaughter Gracie's birthday cakes. They set me on the path, got me interested and set me up with my first tools and equipment. They also got me hooked on looking at what everyone else can do, so I can learn more from others. I am a rank amateur, a total novice - but I hope practice will make me better. I stumbled through making the cakes, learned a lot, then moved on.

I took a LOT of pictures of making this cake, which sort of set me up for this.
